Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly benefits under the third cycle of GrEEn Project

Nsuaem No. 2 in the Wassah Amenfi East Municipality has benefited some developmental projects under the third (3rd) cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project funded by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), and implemented by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD).

The projects which were commissioned and handed over to them on Friday, August 9, 2024, comprise of the Construction of a 1No. Mechanized Borehole with concrete overhead stand, 2No. Poly tanks and 3 No. fetching tabs in Nsuaem No 2; Construction of 1 No. 1800mm Double Pipe Culvert, Approach filling and Embankment of 150 meters in Nsuaem No 2.

A total of One Hundred and Twenty-Four (124) community members consisting of Thirty-One (31) males and Ninety-Three (93) females, graduated with certificates under the Cash for Work (CfW) component.

The GrEEn initiative focuses on the implementation of climate-resilient infrastructures and investment projects in local communities, including improving water supply through provision of boreholes, constructing footbridges and culverts, setting up greenhouse nets, conducting awareness campaigns to educate the local communities, particularly women and farmers and enhancing their ability to withstand the impacts of climate change and various crises. It is funded by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).

MLGDRD: Jomoro MA receives completed Six-Seater WC Toilet and Urinal Facility, Mechanised Borehole, U-Storm Drain, more, from 3rd Cycle of GrEEn project

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD) handed over to Tikobo No. 1, in the Jomoro Municipal Assembly, in the Western region, projects constructed under the third (3rd) cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project.

The projects include; the paving of Eight Hundred Metre Square (800m2) Market Floor area implemented as the second phase of the Tikobo No. 1 Market project, a Six (6) Seater Water Closet Toilet and Urinal Facility, a 1No  Mechanised Borehole with Overhead Tank (Rambo 3000 Litres), as well as the Reconstruction of a 0.6 metre (m) Diameter by 9m Concreate U-Drain at Tikobo No. 1 Market space.

This forms part of an ongoing significant occasion organised to hand over sub-projects implemented under the 3rd Cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project in the ten (10) beneficiary Municipal and District Assemblies (M/DAs), as well as the graduation of Cash for Work (CfW) beneficiaries who have successfully completed the Employability Life Skills Programme under the leadership of the SoS Children’s Villages (SoS).

Under the Cash for Work (CfW) component of the project, a total of ninety-six (96) community members benefited and graduated with certificates, consisting of nineteen (19) males and seventy-seven (77) females.

MLGDRD hands over U-Storm Drain to Axim in the Nzema East Municipality, graduates 106 CfW beneficiaries

As part of the significant occasion organised to hand-over sub-projects implemented under the 3rd Cycle of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project in the ten (10) beneficiary Municipal and District Assemblies (M/DAs), as well as the graduation of Cash for Work (CfW) beneficiaries who have successfully completed the Employability Life Skills Programme under the leadership of the SoS Children’s Villages (SoS), the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD) has  handed over to Axim in the Nzema East Municipality, a U-Storm Drain.

The newly constructed U-Storm Drain which was constructed with a funding amount of Three Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis (GH₡315,880.00), is 200-Meter-Long, 2.2-Meter-Wide and 09-Meter-High (200mx2.2mx0.9m), with 5no Step and Slap Size 2.2meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 0.15meters thick.

Under the Cash for Work (CfW) component, a total of One Hundred and Six (106) community members benefited from, consisting of Fifteen (15) males and Eighty-Nine (89) females.

The Nzema East Municipal Assembly has also benefited from two (2) other cycles of the GrEEn Project, with the initial cycle resulting in Construction of 3No. 1.2m diameter, 8m wide Pipe Culverts (Material) in Gwira Ampansei. This intervention was carried out with a funding amount of Three Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-Nine (GH₡369,159.00) Ghana Cedis under the GrEEn Project for the years 2022-2023.
